***THE DAILY LIVEPRAYER TV NUGGET: Sadly, since COVID we are getting hundreds of emails every day like this from parents here and in other countries about their sons and daughters. I stripped out some of the personal content so you have an idea of what many families, maybe yours, are going through with your sons and daughters. I pray my response will give you or those you know dealing with this problem some hope and encouragement. “A few weeks ago, my teenage son told his teacher he wanted to kill himself. We took him to the doctor and he spent a month meeting with a psychiatrist. My wife breaks down and cries every day. I am asking for your prayers for my son and for me and my wife. Thank You for listening from a concerned Dad.” Here was the response I personally sent, again stripping out some of the personal content: “I am so sorry to hear this. Since the COVOID outbreak, I can't tell you how many parents are dealing with what you and your wife are. My counsel is to PRAY over that boy every night. READ Scripture to him. He is not 18 so he needs to be in church each Sunday whether he likes it or not. Don't forget that God's Word will not return void. Do all you can to keep him from spending hours alone, or hours on his phone or computer. He needs to get out and play, physical exercise. Take him fishing. Change up his daily routine. Kids are naturally curious so keep trying different things to do until you find something he seems to like. Encourage and challenge him to do good in school. Kids like adults need to be challenged, they need realistic goals they can meet to feel good about themselves. None of this insures things will change, and what changes occur will not happen overnight. However, it puts him in different situations, exposes him to new things, new challenges. Most important it exposes him to God's Word each day! The more busy he is mentally and physically the less time he has to dwell on negative thoughts. PRAY OVER HIM WITH HIM AWAKE AND AWARE YOU ARE PRAYING FOR HIM! READ SCRIPTURE TO HIM AND MAKE HIM LISTEN. TAKE HIM TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY, AS LONG AS HE IS A MINOR HE CAN'T SAY NO! Lastly, make sure you know EVERYONE in his life at school, his friends. Cut off anyone who is not a positive influence in his life. Know I will be praying for your son and for you and your wife as the Lord gives you HIS wisdom and guidance in dealing with your child. THE LORD WILL GUIDE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY EACH DAY!” Know I am praying for all of the parents today who are currently dealing with children who are fighting this evil world seeking to destroy their young lives!

**FEBRUARY FINANCIAL UPDATE: After covering the balance of our 2024 shortfall in the first week of January, we ended January with a shortfall of $35,000. As of today that shortfall is now down to the final $15,000. I am praying that we can clear up the balance of January in the next week so we can begin work on the $55,000 we require for our February ministry operation. That is $70,000 to end February with everything current. OUR GOD IS ABLE!!!

The Bible teaches us to “give according to our ability to give.” For some that may be $10 or $20. For others it may be $50 or $100. Still others it may be $200, $500, $1,000, $10,000 or more. GOD WILL BLESS YOUR GIFT NO MATTER WHAT THE AMOUNT!!!

ALSO, DON'T FORGET A GIFT OF $1,800 COVERS ONE DAY OF MINISTRY AT LIVEPRAYER!!! I received this email recently, “Pastor Bill, My wife and I have just sold our last rental and God told us to tithe $1,800.00 to pay for a day of your ministry. Not looking for accolades, just that you know when you receive the check. Rest assured that we will still be making our regular weekly tithes."

I want to give parents out there some encouragement today. Often we get to a point where we wonder if anything we are doing is really making a difference. Let me assure you, the most important job God has given you to do is laying a spiritual foundation in the lives of your children. I know many of you have been diligent in getting your kids to church, involving them in activities at church, teaching them at home how to pray, the importance of the Bible, and talking to them about Jesus.

That great promise in Galatians 6:9 tells us that if we aren't weary in well doing, we will one day reap. We are so used to this day of instant gratification, that we may forget that the things of God happen in His timing and not ours. We may not be able to see the immediate effect in our kid's lives, and even more disappointing, may watch them actually turn away from the Lord as they get older.

Can you imagine how disappointed the father in the story of the Prodigal Son must have been when his own son wanted to get his inheritance and leave home? This father had the wisdom to know that God gives each of us free will to make our own decisions, and there will come a time when our children must make choices for themselves. He also had the faith in God to trust Him to watch over his son. Lastly though, He put his faith in God's word that promised him that the spiritual foundation he laid in his son's life would sustain him in the dark moments of that young man's life.

Let me just interject a personal note here. In my darkest hour, having watched my world destroyed before my very eyes, ending up in Federal Prison, it was the spiritual foundation my parents laid in my life that sustained me, and upon which I was able to rebuild my life. Mom's and dad's....it works, I am a living testimony.

The key point today is don't get frustrated, don't get angry at God when your kids aren't doing what they should, just keep being faithful to lay that spiritual foundation in their life each day. There is no greater gift you can give your children, there is nothing you will do for them that will have a greater impact upon their life. Don't forget, the most important decision any of us make in this life is about our eternal destination. The spiritual foundation you lay in the lives of your children gives them the opportunity to one day make that personal decision to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts by faith.

No one has a greater impact on them than you, since each day they will make hundreds of decisions. Those decisions are influenced by their environment, what they are taught, and how they see you act in your daily life. I will be in prayer for you today to re-commit yourselves today to taking the job God has given you very seriously. THERE IS NO GREATER JOB HE HAS GIVEN YOU THAN LAYING A SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION IN THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN.

I love you and care about you so much. I realize that your children are your life, as they should be. Trust God's Word today, and know that the efforts you make in raising up your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord are not in vain. One day, maybe after you have gone on to be with the Lord, those efforts will bear fruit. As I say often, you cannot control the actions of another human being.

But as parents, you have the best chance of influencing the lives of your children, planting seeds that will be there for the rest of their days on this earth. Be diligent about the work God has given you to do, than pray, trusting God that He will do the rest. I will stand with you in prayer today for your children. The only one who loves your children more than you do is God Himself.

In His love and service,

Your friend and co-laborer in His work,

Bill Keller
