Daily Devotional for Friday January 4, 2019
Your next pastor could be a...ROBOT!!!
(Matthew 24:24)
***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, thank you for your blessings. I admit so much of the time I take most of them for granted, but today, I want to acknowledge your love for me and the many blessings you bestow upon me each and every day. It is easy to say thank you, but more important to thank you in how I live my life each day. Give me your strength to live my life pleasing and acceptable to you during this day. In Jesus name I pray...AMEN!
“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew 24:24
Robots and AI (Artificial Intelligence)!!!
This is a topic that I will be talking about throughout the year in much more specificity and detail, but for today it is simply an issue I want you to know about and have on your radar. Throughout these nearly 2 decades of Liveprayer, I have warned you about many issues to watch and pray about, which I knew were going to help erode our culture and move us further from God our Creator and His Truth that we find in the Bible.
I won’t take the time to give you the detailed list of those warnings that I honestly wish I would have been wrong about, but men legally marrying men, women legally marrying women, the choice of people engaging in perverted sex with people of the same sex becoming part of the mainstream culture, thriving “churches” that deny the authority of the Bible and make a mockery of Christ and the Christian faith, are but a few that I was warning people about in the Daily Devotional years before they actually become part of today’s culture.
Over the past 30 years, technology has exploded in this world we live in at light-speed. In my old life, I was living in Chicago and in 1983 was the 6th install of Motorola’s car phone at their installation facility on West Madison just outside of the Loop. A big receiver in the trunk of my Cadillac, that infamous cell antenna on the back window, the phone on a cradle in the armrest, and calls that cost $2 a minute.
Now, our wireless phones not only make calls worldwide for a fraction of that cost, but they are computers that we can literally run our lives or a business from. As for entertainment, on our phones we can watch television, movies, live video, and even to broadcast live to the world. That is just one example of today’s technology virtually everyone uses on a daily basis!
While you have mostly been experiencing and utilizing the technology of today for convenience in your life, there is a newer application of technology that will soon be available to people on a mass basis. That is robots which utilize artificial intelligence. In computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals.
As I spoke of often during the Liveprayer TV program back in 2013, 2014, 2015, I was sharing with the audience how robots were going to soon be common place in businesses as a replacement for human workers. You don’t have to pay robots on Friday or provide them with benefits, they don’t call in sick, they don’t need coffee or bathroom breaks, they always show up for work, and they do their job consistently day after day.
Robots are not new to industry. Henry Ford used robots in his car plants and throughout the industrial age robots were created to replace human jobs. The first widespread wide spread commercial use of today’s robots was in the fast food industry in Asia. Their commercial use in this country is being expanded almost daily. Not only will they replace virtually all fast food jobs, they now stock grocery shelves, stock shelves at big box stores like Home Depot, are being used on farms, in the military, and are soon going to be your only “contact” at many types of stores in the near future.
So you can fully comprehend this, we have already used computers to replace a huge percentage of jobs once help by humans in recent years. The only travel agencies that exist are boutique, specialty firms. Airports are replacing more human labor with each passing month with computerized kiosks. I could spend hours reciting the number of jobs in most industries that were once held by humans which have been replaced by robots/computers.
I wanted to take a few minutes to lay this foundation so that you understand that we are already dependent on information we receive from computers. Did you ever use Google? Did you ever accept information you received from computer searches? We have all been conditioned over these past few decades to become dependent on information we receive from computers...and trust that information!
One other critical point. You have heard the phrase “garbage in garbage out.” Never forget, any information you receive from a computer has been programmed by human beings. Anything a robot does, any job it performs, is dependent on whatever information a human being has programmed into that robot. AI is called artificial intelligence because whatever “intelligence” has been programmed by a human being.
Robots are moving past their commercial use and are now very close to becoming standard in homes. Anyone who has “Alexa” or “dot” or any other assistant is really using a stationary robot. Soon, you will have literal moving robots in your home to perform tasks, but more alarming, TAKING THE PLACE OF HUMAN BEINGS!
I love you and care about you so much. I promise I am not teasing you. I promise as the year progresses, I will be dealing with this issue many times in much more detail. The point today is to make you aware of what is already happening, and prepare you for what is going to be very soon normative in a large percentage of homes.
Due to our years and years of depending on computers and the information they provide us, we are already pre-conditioned for what is coming. Robots in all different forms will be part of most homes to not just provide information and do certain tasks, but they will become companions, sex partners, and...friends. We currently have a percentage of our culture that is anti-social, whose main interaction each day is with computers in some form.
So you know, they are already using robots to “counsel” people just like if you went to a psychiatrist for an addiction, problem in your marriage, or anything else people would normally go to a counselor for. Why would anyone talk to a robot counselor? We have already been conditioned to trust and believe the information that we get from computers. We have already been conditioned that computers are smarter than we are!
Let me leave you with this to start praying about. I can promise you as I am typing these words, it will not be many years from now that you will be able to go to a church with a “pastor” that is a robot. THERE WILL BE ROBOT PASTORS IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE! Never forget that no computer or robot exists without a human being giving them their “intelligence.” So while people will be guided spiritually by a robot, they will actually be guided by the human that programmed that robot “pastor!!!”
More in the coming months on this issue. Pray!!!
In His love and service,
Your friend, brother, and co-laborer in Christ,
Bill Keller
