Congressman Akin and the Killing of Babies

(Exodus 20:13; Psalm 106:38; Jeremiah 1:5)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, some people think God chose who he was going to be saved even before they were born. I tend to think He just knew who was going to follow him and who wasn't. What is your opinion?

ANSWER: It is the age old debate about "election." God in His omniscience knew before the foundations of the earth was formed who would accept Him and who would reject Him. Having said that, despite His knowledge, man has the free will to accept or reject Christ and God DOES NOT interfere with that free will choice, meaning each person is responsible for what they do with Jesus. Otherwise, there would be no need for preaching the Gospel, there would be no point in evangelizing, and all of the commandments regarding telling others (Romans 10) would be meaningless.

Missouri Congressman Todd Akin created a firestorm with some very foolish comments about rape in conjunction with abortion. Having read the statement, I have no clue what he was talking about regarding women's bodies shutting down during certain kinds of rapes. Any rape is one of the most damaging acts of violence there is, not just physically, but mentally.

Since Akin is also running for the Senate, Republicans and Democrats alike used his comments for their political goals. Democrats and those who support the legalized killing of babies immediately jumped on Akin's statement as an example of the extremism of those who believe all life is from God and is precious. They are seeking to use this issue not just for political advantage, but for their social goals as well.

Here is the bottom line. At the moment of conception you have a life that was created by God, and a life that only God can decide when it is over. The ELECTIVE CHOICE to end the life of a baby in the womb is no different than taking a gun into your local 7-11 and shooting the clerk in the head to kill that person. ABORTION IS MURDER!

I am often asked if abortion is acceptable in the case of rape and incest. The answer is NO! Some people think that if you have an abortion and kill the baby that was the result of either of these horrible acts, it makes it easier for the woman to move on with her life. In reality, the exact opposite is true. What really happens is the horror of an abortion is something a woman NEVER forgets.

In having to deal with the memory of the abortion, it also brings back the memory of the violent act of rape or incest that caused the pregnancy. This makes getting beyond such a tragic experience that much more difficult. Also, when the life of the mother is at stake this is NOT an abortion, it is a medical procedure! This is not a choice the mother makes to kill the baby for whatever reason, but a decision made by doctors in order to save the mother's life!

Please understand, pregnancies from rape or incest are a fraction of 1%, and a medical decision by doctors to take a baby in order to save the life of a mother is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of 1%! Bringing these RARE situations into the discussion is done simply to muddy the waters and make those who stand for life look like extremists who are out of touch with society. The fact is, anyone who supports the legalized killing of babies is out of touch with God!!!

Killing innocent babies will be the legacy of this nation! I read about the Old Testaments prophets lamenting the fact they faithfully deliver the word God has told them to deliver to the people and nobody listened to them. I fully understand the frustration they felt and can empathize with them. For the 13 years Liveprayer has been online, for the 6 years the TV program was been on the air, I have faithfully delivered God's message that the legalized slaughter of over 4,000 innocent babies every DAY was going to unleash God's wrath on this nation.

We will never forget 9/11 and the 3,000 innocence people who died that day. We will always remember the horror of Hurricane Katrina and how it virtually destroyed one of the great cities in our country, killing hundreds and displacing hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Yet, every 24 hours we legally slaughter 4,000 innocent babies and we never even give it a second thought!

*DID YOU THINK TODAY ABOUT THE FACT IN THE LAST 24 HOURS 4,000 INNOCENT BABIES ACROSS THIS COUNTRY WERE SLAUGHTERED???

My friend, we not only are long overdue God's wrath, but we deserve God's wrath! Forget the fact we have turned from God to worship the false gods and idols of the world. Forget the fact that we live in total rebellion to God and His Truth. Simply the fact that we slaughter over 4,000 innocent babies every single day in this nation is enough for us to suffer whatever punishment God metes out!

I keep asking myself when will this nation wake up? I am afraid like the children of Israel so many times in the Old Testament, we have become so lost in our sin, so blinded by our rejection of and rebellion to God, that we no longer possess a conscience. Our hearts are so hardened and our soul is seared that we no longer care. Knowing that it is only a matter of moments before God says enough is enough and pours out His wrath upon this nation, it would be easy for hopelessness to set in and do nothing. That is the mindset satan wants us to have. Instead, now is the time to do more! We are the victors, it is satan who is defeated!

I love you and care about you so much. I have a renewed sense of purpose today, a new motivation, a new fire that has been lit inside of me. I will press on and keep giving everything I have each day to be faithful to the Lord's calling on my life. I want this message today to encourage you as well. God needs all of His children, now more than ever, to rise up and take their stand for Him in these last days. Each of us have our own specific calling, our own special missions to perform for the Master. Now is the time to be more faithful than ever. Now is the time to work harder than we ever have. Now is the time for make even greater sacrifices, to make even more of a commitment to the Lord and His work.

Since I put up the video of an actual abortion being performed on the Liveprayer website several years ago ( http://www.liveprayer.com/aborsion.cfm ), we have received emails from over 6,000 women who were planning on killing their baby, watched that video, and decided to let their baby live. I have no doubt many more babies are alive today because of that one video clip.

We have to continue to speak out and not be silent, to let women know there are options to killing their baby, to educate young people on God's plan for sex and relationships, and most important, change hearts by leading people to faith in Christ and the Truth of His Word!
