Is Rick Perry the Answer for the United States

(2 Samuel 23:3; 2 Chronicles 19:6; Psalms 2:10,11)

Is Rick Perry the answer for the United States? In 15 months, the nation will go the polls to elect the next President. As you know, I have never, or ever will, tell anyone who to vote for...or not to vote for. That is a choice each person has to make for themselves. What I do encourage people to do is to find someone who best represents your faith and values. With the official entry of Texas Governor Rick Perry over the weekend, it is most likely that the 2012 Presidential election will come down to current President Barack Hussein Obama and either Perry or former Massachusetts Governor and Mormon cult member Mitt Romney.

I am well aware that there are many Christians excited about the potential to see Perry in the White House. As I have shared with you over the years, one-day Christian events do virtually nothing in the big picture to change the spiritual course of this nation. They are great to motivate and re-energize those who attend, but 24 hours after it is over, nothing has really changed. The proof is the incredible number of large events that have been held over the years, yet the nation has been in spiritual freefall for decades now. These events are great for those who already know the Lord, but have virtually no impact on the culture at large. For that to happen, there has to be an ongoing, daily effort.

I was pleased to see Perry, a politician, not being afraid to stand in Houston a few weekends ago and lead a prayer rally for the nation. Whatever else you can say about him, he showed more courage than most pastors, and was not ashamed of his faith in Jesus Christ. However, please do not be lulled into thinking that if Perry would become President the spiritual issues we face will change, or that even the spiritual freefall we are in will be turned around. While it would be nice if a sincere born-again Believer occupied the White House, never forget that Perry is first and foremost a POLITICIAN. No man can rise to the position of President without selling his soul to the institution of politics.

For 8 years we had a man I truly believe was saved, President George W. Bush. Yet during his 8 years, he failed to deliver on his promises to the Christian community to enact a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman, and did very little to stem the scourge of abortion from our land. At the end of the day, he made lots of promises to the Christian public that were never fulfilled because he was first a foremost a politician. Rick Perry, and anyone else will be no different.

To give you a guide of what the 2012 election will mean to the spritual course of this nation, if President Obama is elected to a second term, it is the furtherance of God's judgment on this land. He has proven through his ACTIONS to be a true enemy of God since taking office as I warned you he would be for over a year prior to his election. He is the most pro-death, advocate for the radical homosexual agenda, and supporter of the enemies of Israel President in the history of the nation. His election was the beginning of God's judgment on this nation, and if he is re-elected, it will be God continuing to pour out His wrath on this nation for our gross sin and wickedness.

If Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination and is elected President, it will again be God allowing the member of a satanic cult to rise to the highest office in the land as a form of His judgment, and will ultimately be responsible for millions of souls ending up in hell for all eternity. A vote for Romney is truly a vote for satan, since it is the ultimate goal of satan to see souls end up in hell for all eternity. A Romney Presidency will finally make the Mormon cult mainstream, and with their already intense efforts to lead people to the lies of their cult, they will have an unprecedented opportunity to lead unsuspecting souls to hell.

If Rick Perry wins the Presidency, I don't see the spiritual course of this nation changing. At best, the spritual freefall will be minimized for a season. Sadly, that is the best we can hope for, since as I have told you often a politician can't lead this nation back to God and His Truth, only men of God can accomplish that. In the past I have done Devotionals on why political leaders are NOT spiritual leaders, trying to warn people that they have unrealistic expectations about what politicians can and will do regarding the spiritual issues our nation is faced with. The fact is, the spiritual problems of this nation won't be solved by a politician but by a preacher!

Two social issues that are tearing at the fabric of our society that no administration will do anything about are the growing porn and gambling industries in this nation. Both porn and gambling are so mainstream now, children growing up accept them both as simply part of everyday life. Daily, I deal with the destroyed lives, marriages, and families left in the wake of these growing cancers in our society that nobody has the guts to tackle, let alone address. With the pressing financial issues facing the states, watch for them to aggressively look to legalized gambling to help offset their budget deficits.

Homosexuality is now mainstream. This battle has been lost. There is no President who will even begin to try and repeal the gains made by the radical homosexual community over the last two decades. All future Presidents will simply sit back and allow the homosexual advocates to advance their agenda. While the church ignored this scourge upon our society, sat back in silence while the vocal tools of satan advanced their cause, they have now become so entrenched in the fabric of society, no politician would dare to confront them or attempt to take on the powerful homosexual lobby in this nation.

Saddest of all has been the abortion issue. I have been warning people for years now that we can't keep slaughtering over 4,000 innocent babies every day and not see God's wrath unleashed on our nation. I firmly believe at any moment God will say enough and we will feel His wrath for the practice of infanticide. It is not a matter of if, only when. Let us pray that at some point, we will overturn Roe vs. Wade and take the Federal Government out of the business of killing babies, sending that issue back to each individual state. However, it is unlikely that any President will take any real leadership on this issue.

BUT FEAR NOT, GOD IS STILL ON HIS THRONE! The President is the Commander-in-Chief, NOT the Pastor-in-Chief as many in the Christian community expect. I'm sad to say that the President is first and foremost a POLITICIAN. This in no way minimized his personal faith, but it does reinforce what I have been sharing with you for years that our hopes for the spiritual direction of this nation won't be found at a podium with the seal of the Untied States on it, but at a pulpit with a cross on it! The one God will use to lead this nation back to righteousness won't be a politician but a preacher!!!

I love you and care about you so much. Please don't take what I am saying today as an excuse to recuse yourself from the political process. We MUST be involved in every facet of our lives, including in the political arena. There are very Godly men and women who run for office, who get elected to office, and really do try and advance Biblical values through their service. God knows who they are and He knows their hearts. We need to continue to do our best to seek out Godly men and women who will support Biblical values and do all we can to elect them to office.

The point today, however, is that if you are expecting a politician to lead this nation back to God and Godly values, you will always be disappointed. It isn't going to happen. Actually, it shouldn't happen because that is not what a politician does. It is not the job of those we elect to office to bring righteousness back into our land, that is the job of the preacher. While we must support and elect candidates for every office who uphold traditional Biblical values, we must never forget that it is the preacher who is void from the compromise of politics that God will raise up to bring this nation back to God. A preacher who isn't looking for fame, or for fortune, but is simply being obedient in calling this nation to repentance.

A great nation like the United States has many incredible issues to face each and every day. May we pray daily for those we elect to every office to do their best and seek God for direction in helping guide this great country, to keep it free and to keep it safe. That is the main job those we elect to office have to perform. While it would be nice to have leadership from our politicians on the spiritual issues of our day, ultimately that leadership has to come from the pulpit. The heart of this nation won't be changed by passing laws, but by turning to the Truth of God's Word and Jesus Christ. The spiritual direction of this nation won't be guided by a politician but by a preacher!!!

In His love and service, Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller
