A National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Economy

(Jonah 3:6-10)

"When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: 'By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.' When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened." Jonah 3:6-10

A National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the economy. I have called for there to be a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the economy on Thursday, December 18, 2008. I will be making a formal request of President Bush and Congress to also set aside this day as a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the economy. On the Liveprayer.com homepage, there is a link ( http://www.liveprayer.com/petition.cfm ) to a special petition for people to sign that will be hand delivered to the President, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

*Please take a moment today and add your name to this special petition and forward this message to everyone you know and get them to sign it as well. I am expecting there to be a minimum of 250,000 signatures, a number the President nor Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid will be able to ignore.

As the economic problems that were mostly confined to the real estate market the past couple of years expanded to include the financial sectors and the overall economic structure this past September, I have done several Daily Devotionals specially dealing with this issue, trying to help people understand that this really isn't an economic problem, but a spiritual problem.

We have watched over the past 2 months the Government come up with one failed plan after another, giving out several trillion dollars we don't have to try and fix the problem, all to no avail. Again, this is because there is not a human solution to a spiritual problem. The only real hope and answer is PRAYER! This nation must get on its knees, ask God's forgiveness, repent, turn from our sins and back to God and His Truth.

The political leadership of our nation has often called for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting in the face of great problems. This would not be unprecedented for the President and Congress to call this nation to prayer for the economy. We will do it with or without the support of the President and Congress, but it would be nice to have them acknowledge that we are a nation and people dependant upon Almighty God, and our blessings are tied directly to our relationship with our Creator.

The fact is, as I have been sharing with you this entire year, we are out of options. We have turned our back on God, bowed down to worship and follow the false gods and idols of this world, lived our lives in absolute rebellion to Him, we are out of time. We aren't due God's wrath and judgment, we are overdue. This is our opportunity to repent of our sins, ask God to forgive us, and turn back to Him and His Truth. If we refuse to do so, than we will suffer the consequences of our sins and rebellion.

I am committed to doing what we have done daily for the past 111 months, and that is to minister to the personal needs of those we reach each day and bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. However, in addition to that, I have taken the yoke to lead this charge to call our nation and the nations of the world back to God and Biblical Truth. It is the only true hope we have.

I love you and care about you so much. Please help me by getting every person you know to sign this critical petition. I plan on having it hand delivered to the President and leaders of Congress on Monday the 15th of December. Make sure you have everyone in your church and various ministries you may be part of to go the website and sign the petition.

Every name matters, since I want to make a strong showing that there is a remnant that will not sit back in silence any longer. We will make our voice heard. We have every right to speak out as those who oppose the things of God speak out. This is your opportunity to take a real stand for Christ. God has raised us up at this moment in human history, may it record for all time that we took our place with the heroes of the faith and made our lives count for Christ!!!

In His love and service, Your friend and brother in Christ, Bill Keller
