Sex and the City

(Ephesians 5:3; 2 Corinthians 6:14; James 2:17; 1 Timothy 6:19)

"Sex and the City," a case study for women in how to become whores and have failed relationships! Harsh? Absolutely! So is a TV program and now movie that influences the lives of millions of women, encouraging them to be little more than sex objects and helping to insure they will have one failed relationship after another. What the creators of this fictional program have done, is to help destroy the very real lives of the women who they target with endless messages that glorify fornication and a lifestyle of utter rebellion to God and His Word.

The amazing thing is just 20 years ago I would have never even had to write such a Devotional because there is NO WAY this program would have ever been on television. Forget the nudity, take that out. It still would have never see the light of day. As a movie, maybe. However, it would have been rejected by most people. But fast forward just one generation and you have millions of young women who model themselves after these characters and try to emulate their lives. Sadly, the women on Sex and the City are the role models millions of women try to pattern their lives after!

The fact is, all 4 of the lead female characters are losers in every sense of the word. Their lives are great examples of what I tell you so often that our way never works, God's way always works. You simply can't live a life of rebellion to God, sin, and not pay a huge price. Sadly, that reality is not ever fully addressed, leaving the viewer with the false sense of security that they can make ungodly choices, live without God and in rebellion to His Word, and in the end everything will work out.

THAT MY FRIEND IS A LIE FROM HOLLYWOOD AND DIRECTLY FROM THE PITS OF HELL ITSELF! YOUR CHOICES DO MATTER! THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES FOR OUR ACTIONS. WHEN WE CHOOSE TO HONOR GOD AND OBEY HIM, WE ARE BLESSED. WHEN WE CHOOSE TO LIVE APART FROM GOD AND IN REBELLION TO HIM, WE PAY THE PRICE FOR OUR SIN. WOMEN, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE DOWN TO THE LOW STANDARDS OF SEX AND THE CITY AND SUFFER A LIFE OF CONSEQUENCES, BUT YOU CAN LIVE UP TO THE HIGH STANDARDS OF GOD'S WORD AND ENJOY A LIFE OF BLESSINGS!!!

I receive hundreds of emails daily from women, and men, who fell for satan's lies like Sex and the City. Their problems range from unwanted pregnancies, to STDs that they will have always have to deal with, deep emotional problems, and a full range of other problems. These are permanent scars that they will carry with them for the REST OF THEIR LIVES!!! Many have had their world shattered at such a young age. So many are wonderful, good people who simply fell for the lie of the enemy.

Women, listen to me. I am saying this because I love you and care about you so much. Sex is a WONDERFUL thing. God created it, so it HAS to be wonderful. But God created sex to be enjoyed between a man and a women in the bonds of marriage. Period! The Bible talks over and over about fornication. Fornication is literally ANY sex outside of the bonds of marriage. It includes ALL sexual acts, NOT just sexual intercourse, and it is a SIN!

Relationships between a man and a woman are NOT a game! They are a serious, life-changing business. I want to share with you my BIG THREE for starting any relationship. Please understand, that by meeting these BIG THREE, it does not insure you will have a successful relationship, or that it is God's plan for your life. However, I can guarantee you that if these BIG THREE don't exist, there is no chance that this is part of God's plan for your life.

Number one, is the person you want to enter into a relationship with saved? I have to tell you that a large percentage of the emails I get from men and women with relationship problems, are because they have ignored this warning and entered into a relationship with someone who was not also a Believer. It simply does not work. God knows that, and that is why He put that warning about not being unequally yoked so clear in His Word.

Number two, if the person is saved, do you see evidence of their relationship with Christ in their day-to-day life. Good works can't save you, but anyone who is truly saved should have good works flow from their life. One of the best verses in the Bible is that "you will know a tree by the fruit it bears." What that is basically saying is that if you profess to have a relationship with Christ, it should be evident in your day-to-day life. Anyone who is truly saved should have the evidence of their salvation visible in how they live.

Number three, is building a spiritual foundation to your relationship. The sad fact is most couples build a foundation together based on their looks, sadly in many cases on sex, based on many things other than their faith. If you can't build a real spiritual foundation to your relationship, then that relationship will have little chance of standing the test of time. You build it by praying together, reading the Word together, worshiping together, and finding ways to serve the Lord together. These are ways to build that spiritual foundation to your relationship that can carry you through the most difficult times all relationships experience.

I love you and care about you so much. Sadly, in the coming weeks, months, and years, millions of young women are going to have their very real lives influenced by a Godless TV series and now movie that has already helped to damage and destroy the lives of so many women who have bought into the lies of "Sex and the City." Sex is not a sport but a gift from God to be enjoyed by a man and a woman in the bonds of marriage. Relationships are not a game, but serious, life changing events.

I will be praying for you. I pray today that if you are looking to start a new relationship, or are even in one now, that you will read and pray over these BIG THREE. Again, they do not insure a wonderful and happy relationship, but they are instead a starting point. They are actually what I would call prerequisites, since if they don't exist, you are on very dangerous ground. God loves you very much. He only wants the best for your life. Make the BIG THREE your starting point, and DON'T COMPROMISE!!!

All throughout the Bible, women have played an incredible role in the plan of God. We see women being used by God in incredible ways, helping to fulfill His divine plan. I simply want to encourage and exhort women to never underestimate the potential they have for serving our Lord. I also want to encourage men to support women in recognition of the special gifts they have to offer. Women have always played a key role in God's plan, and I want to make sure we never lose sight of how important they are in the Kingdom.

Women, God created you in His own image. He loves you. You are special. Sex does not make you special, you are special because God made you. If you have made the choice to accept Jesus Christ into your heart by faith, YOU are a daughter of the King! Don't ever let "Sex and the City," any magazine, TV program, or any other person make you forget that you are special! You have a ROYAL bloodline if you know Jesus as your personal Savior!!!
