Daily Devotional for Thursday November 6, 2008
The Day After
(John 6:60-69)
The day after. Not surprisingly, I have been inundated with emails the past few weeks prior to the election, and absolutely swamped all day Tuesday, throughout Tuesday night, and all day Wednesday. I was up nearly 48 hours reading through as many of the emails pertaining to the election as I could. As you can imagine, with over 2.4 million subscribers and the hundreds of thousands more who read the Daily Devotional through forwards, on blogs and other websites that post it each day, I received emails from both ends of the spectrum of opinion and everywhere in between. Today, I wanted to address some of the questions and issues raised in those emails, plus share with you several of my personal reflections I made note of as Tuesday night's elections results were coming in.
I am not even going to get into all of the hateful emails I received accusing me of being a member of the KKK, a racist, because I had the audacity to speak out against Senator Obama. This has been a very nasty ploy used the entire election by those who supported Senator Obama, to try and intimidate into silence those who opposed him on any grounds. With hundreds of thousands of my subscribers who are black, having subscribers in over 50 different countries around the world, the people in the Liveprayer family who have read what I write for any length of time know that I could care less about politics, about the color of a person's skin, or anything else. My only concern is souls and leading people in ways of righteousness. It actually makes me wonder why a Godly man like Alan Keys never had the full support of the African-American community in his attempts to lead our nation. I believe it was because his allegiance was to the Lord and not to the institution of politics.
I got a good laugh at the hundreds of emails asking me if I would post the "other Devotional" I wrote for Wednesday that had John McCain winning the election. Let me clearly state that I wrote the Wednesday Devotional very early Tuesday morning, even before the polls opened. It has been clear to me for many weeks what was going to happen Tuesday night. I even wrote an op-ed Tuesday morning for my PR firm to distribute first thing Wednesday to hundreds of newspaper, dealing with the spiritual implications of Barack Hussein Obama being elected our 44th President.
Let me remind you as I stated in Tuesday's Devotional, that it is God who allows men to rise to power and we have been commanded to pray for those in authority over us. On January 20, 2009, Barack Hussein Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. All followers of Christ must pray for him daily as he leads our nation. I would ask everyone in the Liveprayer family to be praying for him even now, that God will bring him under conviction and that he will truly surrender his heart and life to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit, and not his flesh, to guide him as he governs our nation.
One of the questions I received over and over was why didn't God answer the prayers of so many who were praying for the Lord to allow John McCain to win the election. As I have shared with you often, we pray, we seek the Lord, and then we trust God for His answer. It was clearly God's plan to allow Senator Obama to win this election. As I stated in yesterday's Devotional, I am certain God simply gave the masses what they asked for, just like He gave the children of Israel what they asked for when they clamored for a king. The people have gotten what they asked for.
To that end, I watched the great celebrations in various places like Grant Park in Chicago, Times Square in New York City, and outside the gates of the White House after Senator Obama won the election. The people were delirious with joy, displaying pure emotions. Sadly for many, it was a celebration based strictly on the fact Barack Hussein Obama is half black and has dark skin. Very troubling to me for many months now has been the fact so many people were blinded and oblivious to everything about this man except the color of his skin. So many Godly people set aside their belief in God's Word, excused Obama's rebellion to God and the Bible, simply because of the color of his skin.
I really can't blame the people, since one of the most high profile black pastors in America, TD Jakes, was on MSNBC all night Tuesday commenting on the election. If you didn't know who this man was, you would never guess for a second he was a pastor. Never ONCE did he say the name of Jesus. Never ONCE did he speak out against Senator Obama for supporting the legalized slaughter of innocent babies. Never ONCE did he speak out on the fact Senator Obama supports gay marriage and the radical homosexual agenda. He spent the night praising Senator Obama, refusing to even try to deal with the incredible spiritual implications of his Presidency.
So it was expected that the lost masses who had been mesmerized by Obama's flowery rhetoric would be celebrating. Sadly, many Christians had voted for Senator Obama and were also participating in those celebrations, not even realizing the spiritual ramifications because so many "Christian leaders" and "pastors" were either silent on what an Obama presidency would mean to the spiritual life of this nation, or worse, were actively supporting this man whose stated beliefs and actions have made him a true enemy of God.
It was exciting to see Florida, Arizona, and California support God's Holy Institution of Marriage. It was sad to see the efforts to ban abortion in South Dakota and Colorado defeated. However, as I shared yesterday, the first act of Obama's presidency will be to sign into law the Freedom of Choice Act to insure there will be on-demand abortions at any stage in all 50 states. I also have no doubt that he will repay the incredible support he received from the gay community by signing some sort of executive order or championing thru the legislature a bill to open up gay marriage in all 50 states, even in those states that have voted to ban this perversion of God's definition of marriage which is between a man and a woman.
The main point I want to make today is this...BE OF GOOD CHEER, GOD IS STILL ON HIS THRONE!!! Listen, God taking His hand off this nation doesn't mean God has taken His hand off of His children! I know so many people are despondent, sad, feel defeated, are terribly upset. I understand that. It was a very sad night for me Tuesday night as I reflected back on my 50 years of life. I was thanking God for allowing me to enjoy those 50 years in probably the greatest environments in human history for a person to live. I knew after Tuesday night, spiritually things would never be the same in the nation again. But that is OK. God is still God.
If you know Jesus as your Savior you are assured of being with the Lord for all eternity in Heaven. This is a brief journey we are on as it is, and the fact is we are citizens of a better country. Our King is not of flesh and blood, but He is Jesus Christ, the King of ALL Kings! We worship the Creator of the universe, God Almighty! We are His people and He is our God. So no matter what this temporal world we are passing through throws our way, we have the promises of God and the Truth of His Word to hold on to.
I love you and care about you so much. By far the most frequent question I have been getting is what do we do now. What do true followers of Christ do now? As I shared with you yesterday, now is the time to take action. For those who have been following Liveprayer, you know in the Spring God gave me a vision for this nation. In July, I launched the Jonah Project. The Lord gave me this vision and the Holy Spirit guided me to set up this vehicle for exactly where we are at today. The Jonah Project is the plan from God to bring together the true followers of Christ at this moment in human history, to call this nation to repentance, to turn back to God and Biblical Truth, and to help lead the lost to faith in Jesus Christ while taking a bold and visible stand on the social issues of our day.
I am calling on all of those who love the Lord, who refuse to bow their knee to Baal, to join me. It is time to go on the offensive. Let me encourage you today to become part of the Jonah Project. You can go to the Jonah Project homepage at http://www.liveprayer.com/jonah/ , watch the vision video, and sign up to be part of this great last days move of God. My friend, this is the only hope for our nation and for each soul. There is only one answer, JESUS!!!
In His love and service, Your friend and brother in Christ, Bill Keller
