Daily Devotional for Sunday March 18, 2001
Let God?s Will be Done
(James 4:15) For those of you who have been reading my Daily Devotionals for many months know, I do not abuse this privilege by bringing my own personal views into these daily writings, but try to stay focused on what God?s Word says in the context of the subject I deal with. I realize politics are a very personal, very emotional subject for many. I can assure you that my chief motivation for organizing the incredible prayer effort around the elections, and the various Devotionals devoted to the issue, were done with a focus on the spiritual implications of where our nation is at. The burden God laid on my heart, what the Holy Sprit showed me, was that we were facing great spiritual issues as a nation, and to that extent, needed to bombard the throne room of God with prayer that He would bring into office men and women who would be after His own heart in how they governed our land at the national, state, and local level. My focus was not on the various issues involved, but on the spiritual consequences to our land. For anyone that may have read more into this, let me ask your forgiveness, and assure you that I never take for granted this forum the Lord has blessed me with, and that I prayerfully use it to bring spiritual truth into the lives of those who read these words each day. The great spiritual lesson from the recent elections is this. Man has a responsibility to do all that he can do as the Lord leads him. After having done all possible, it is time to sit back, and let God speak. If you can apply this great spiritual principle to your daily life, you will always be where God wants you to be. We work hard, we pray, and then after doing all we know to do, we leave it to God. The key then becomes accepting what God has to say. It may not always be what we want to hear. That is where spiritual maturity must come into play. We must be willing to say what Jesus said in the Garden. Lord, not my will, but thy will be done. After all, it works when God?s will is done. To rebel against His will, and try to force our will on a situation, never works out in the long run. Regardless of who you voted for president, the work has been done, the prayers prayed. Now it is time for God to answer. Our responsibility now becomes accepting what God says and moving forward, knowing God?s perfect plan will be fulfilled. One of the great truths to living this life I have discovered, is the more we follow the Lord?s lead, the better off we are. So often we either get ahead of God, or don?t even consider Him in our daily activities. That is very dangerous. It is NOT a place we want to be. My prayer for you today is to apply this spiritual truth to your daily life. Realize that you have a responsibility to do all that you can do, but at some point, must say, ?Now it is time for God to speak.? The problem is we often never take time to hear from the Lord. That is how we can get off track. As for the current presidential race, I am thankful for the way this has turned out. Under these incredible circumstances, we can be assured that it will clearly be the voice of God speaking when it is finally settled. As believers, that is exactly what we want. To know we are clearly hearing the voice of God in a situation. I love you, and care about you. I am praying for you daily. Let me apologize to those who have been receiving the Devotionals a day or so late. We have recently added the new 180,000 names to our servers, and our tech people our still working through the additional load on our equipment. By the weekend, we should be back on a regular schedule of having these in your email box first thing each morning. Thanks for your patience and prayers. We are embarking on an exciting time in our nation?s history. There is much happening in the world today. We are excited to be in the middle of all God is doing, and to have a front row seat at this incredible time in our history. While we look at the big picture, we never forget our number one responsibility each day is to minister the love and hope of Christ into your life each day. Never hesitate to contact me if I can help you in any way. That is why I am here, and what this ministry is all about. We are here to do the will l of the Lord.
