Playing Christian or Having a Real Relationship

(Romans 10:9)

Many people have incorrectly identified the Christian as a person who goes to church on Sunday. The Bible doesn't say anywhere that going to church makes you a Christian. Confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and putting your faith in Him makes you a Christian!!! Those who are playing a Christian go to church, go to different events of the church, participate in church projects, and are usually good people. Those who have a true relationship with Christ work at that relationship 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!!!

Your Christian walk and your relationship with Jesus is something that you work on daily. Prayer, reading the Word, time alone with the Lord is only the beginning. Trying to keep a communication line open to God so during the day, those decisions you make are guided by Him and not your head and feelings. You can't turn on and off your Christian faith. Jesus said, "no man can serve two masters". Most people stray away from God because they aren't truly committed to their relationship with Christ and would rather do their own thing.

The main point I want you to understand today is that the Christian faith isn't a Sunday morning thing. It isn't a Wednesday night thing. The Christian faith is about a personal relationship with Christ. Like all relationships, you have to work at it. Nurture it every day. Let it grow. I pray today that you will be honest with yourself and ask yourself today, "do I have a real relationship with Christ or am I just playing games?". Jesus loves you and wants to have a deep, personal, intimate relationship with you. That is what being a Christian is all about. Having a deep, intimate personal relationship with Jesus!

I love you and care about you so much. There is no other way to get the most of our Christian experience other than living it 24/7. God has so much for our lives, but we will miss it unless we are in that close, intimate, daily relationship with Him. I will be praying today that you decide to get really serious about being a Christian and realize that it is not something you can do when you feel like it. Being a Christian is not only what we are, but it is WHO we are. May you be richly blessed today as you dig into that daily relationship with Jesus.
