Why We Don't Talk To God More

Why we don't talk to God more. Why is it that the ONE who created us, and is ALWAYS willing to talk to us at any time, is the one we seem to neglect the most throughout the day? Paul said to pray without ceasing, and while there are many interpretations of that verse, I believe it literally means that we should be talking to God throughout the day. Not in the sense that we walk around talking to ourselves, but that silent, constant communication with the Lord that guides our every move and decision.

The number one reason we don't talk to God more is sin. After Adam's sin in the garden, what did he do? He hid from God. The same God he would talk to all the time, he was now hiding from. Why? Because he had sinned, and one of the byproducts of sin in our life is the separation it causes in our daily relationship with the Lord. The fact is, when we sin, instead of running away from God, that is the time to run to Him. Repent, ask His forgiveness, stand on His promise that tells us "if we confess our sins He will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

One of the best guards against sin in our life is to keep in constant communication with God throughout the day. It is tough to do those things we know we shouldn't when we are talking with Him. Try talking with Him today, not just during that quiet time or prayer time each day, but all through the day. Talk to Him, let Him guide your steps, help you make decisions, and show you what it is He wants you to do each step of the way. This is also one of the surest ways to stay right in the center of His perfect will for your life when you are communicating with Him all day long.
